Review : some good, some not so good...
PLUSES: 3.0 USB is terrific, at least four times the speed of my old 2.0 drive (this my first 3.0 device)
CONS:
-not as quiet as other Buffalo drives I have owned in the past. Noticeable hum
-no on/off switch. A big problem as I have the unit plugged into a router so I can share on my home network. This means the unit NEVER shuts off, even when computers are off. Buffalo's so called eco mode does not work in this configuration. End result is the platters spin 24/7.
-cheap plastic case. Older Buffalo units I have owned had more resilient, metal, cases
-Buffalo tech support is not very good. The two gents I spoke with were of little help, just read the owners manual while I was on the phone (no use as I had already done my own research)
End result is that next time I will probably steer clear of Buffalo.
