I ordered this mic/receiver for my kodak zi8 (note: the customer service people at Kodak told me the zi8 is not capable of using a wireless mic. They were wrong). I've been playing around with it for the last few weeks. It is REALLY nice. Although the mic is much bigger than a traditional wireless lapel mic, it's no big deal to me. Not to mention this thing is pretty sensitive. You can wear it on your pant pocket or some other "hidden" spot and it still picks up your voice no problem. I cannot comment on the battery life since I have not used it for an extended period of time. The distance is AMAZING. I have easily exceeded the 150ft max range and had no problems. At times the communication between receiver and mic is lost from a further distance if the line-of-sight is lost but if you find the line-of-sight it usually picks it up right away.
